Why Ductless AC is More Energy-Efficient

If you live in a warm climate like Franklin and Wake Counties in North Carolina, you know that making your air conditioning as efficient as possible is essential. By using less energy for your AC, you’ll spend less money on utilities over the long run. Here are some reasons why ductless air conditioning could be the right system for you to save money on your energy bills.

Cooling Zones

A ductless AC system can include several indoor handling units, all of which are connected to a single outdoor unit. Each indoor unit cools a certain area of the house and is controlled by a separate thermostat, so you can actually pinpoint where you need the most cooling to occur. By lowering the temperature on the thermostat only for the zones of the house which are currently occupied, you’ll use far less energy than if you tried to cool your entire home.

No Ductwork

One of the biggest advantages of a ductless system is in the name; there are no ducts needed when you use this type of cooling system. Ductwork is actually an energy drain since it requires more energy to keep the air inside the ducts cool while also accounting for energy losses in the space surrounding the ducts. Cutting the ductwork out of the equation allows you to cool rooms directly rather than running that air through the ductwork first.

Easy Installation

If you’re not familiar with ductless AC, it might sound somewhat complicated. However, it’s actually quite easy to install a ductless AC system. You’ll need a professional to get the job done, but only very small holes are needed to run hookups between your indoor units and your outdoor unit. And since you don’t need any ductwork, it requires far less time and effort to install.
