Why Isn’t My Ductless AC in Spring Hope, NC Cooling?

Ductless air conditioners, also known as ductless mini-splits, are becoming more popular. This is largely due to their energy efficiency and the customization that they provide. If your ductless AC isn’t cooling your space, you’re probably dealing with one of the problems that we’ll discuss today.

Restricted Airflow

The most common cause of restricted airflow is dirty or clogged air filters. Changing or cleaning your ductless AC’s filters is something that many homeowners handle.

When filters become too clogged with dust, dirt and debris, the system can’t produce adequate airflow. If you’re not comfortable changing the filter, we can help.

Low Refrigerant Levels

Your ductless AC relies on a chemical called refrigerant to change the temperature of the air that it pushes into your home. This refrigerant travels through a network of coils. If one of those coils suffers damage, the refrigerant starts leaking into your system.

A low refrigerant level not only makes it impossible for your ductless system to transfer heat, but it also creates an unsafe situation. Never try to add refrigerant to your system or fix a leak on your own.

Obstructed Outdoor Units

The indoor air handlers that control the temperature in each zone that you establish are only part of your ductless system. There’s also an outdoor system that requires ample airflow. If your ductless AC isn’t cooling, you may have an outdoor unit that’s become obstructed.

Whether the outdoor furniture is sitting too close to the unit or fallen tree limbs and twigs have gathered around its base, you need to resolve the issue quickly. In addition to restricting airflow, these obstructions can also put added stress on your system.
